Common Questions

  • JOB DESCRIPTION
    • Staff will minister in a day camp program designed to develop children's spiritual, physical, moral, social and intellectual growth. Staff will supervise children and share in the leadership/teaching role. Of primary importance is the building of relationships and demonstrating the Christian faith. Staff should expect to work hard, be challenged and at least 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday. Additional hours may be required in the evening or on weekends for preparation and planning. Staff will also be asked to sign a code of conduct indicating their commitment to the lifestyle requirements unique to this ministry. KBM tries to keep camper to staff ratio less than 10:1.
  • EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS
    • We have been able to enter into partnership with several schools to grant academic credit for a program of internship. Staff can make this arrangement through their academic advisor in their area of study or the Career Office.  Kodiak Baptist Mission is in search of staff with specialized training/abilities in a variety of different areas.
  • FINANCIAL PLANNING
    • We believe all of our staff should have a vital relationship with their local church. Once an individual has been accepted into the program, we suggest they inform their local church and ask that they sponsor them. We hope home churches will take sponsorship seriously and support their summer missionary both financially and prayerfully.  Each week staff receive a bonus check.  Counselors with additional needs may also apply for a stipend with Volunteers in Mission, PO Box 851, Valley Forge, PA 19482-0851.
    • If this is a concern please contact us at KBM for more information!
  • HOUSING, FOOD, CAR
    • Staff will receive room and board on our thirty-acre, beachfront campus.  Staff will have the opportunity to share a room with one other person.  The mission vehicles are available after hours and on the weekends. Individuals must be 21 in order to drive KBM vehicles and have a valid driver's license. We usually have enough staff who qualify to drive and will carpool with those who cannot so all can enjoy this wonderful place.
  • TRANSPORTATION
    • Staff are responsible for their own transportation to Kodiak. Alaska Airlines serves much of the West and flies into Kodiak. Several other airlines fly into Anchorage where a connection with ERA Aviation or Alaska Airlines can be made. Purchasing a ticket at least 30 days in advance can provide considerable savings. You may find a donor of frequent flyer miles who can meet this need, preferably with Alaska Airlines that serves Kodiak, although other airlines can get counselors as far as Anchorage.
  • APPLICATION
    • Individuals are encouraged to submit applications as early as possible to ensure the best chance for acceptance.  You can download an application off the National Ministries site (link below), we request that you fax or mail a copy to us, also.   Applications will be accepted until all positions are filled.
